Tunisian media reported on the 15th local time that the Tunisian Ministry of Defense said in a communiqué issued on the same day that on the evening of the 14th, the Tunisian navy and the Coast Guard successfully rescued 93 illegal immigrants from African countries on the Safax coast.

The statement said that the illegal immigrants included three Tunisians, with a total of 37 women and 4 children. The illegal immigrants’ boat broke down 42 kilometers northeast of Safax.

According to the introduction, illegal migrant ships sailed from the coast of Amera and tried to secretly cross the maritime border to reach the Italian coast.

The case has been transferred to the Tunisian Coast Guard in order to complete the relevant legal procedures.

Due to the economic depression of many African countries and the impact of the epidemic, illegal immigrants attempting to smuggle from the coast of Tunisia to Italy occur from time to time.
