“Americans First” again? According to the THE Hill on the 7th, US President Trump will sign an executive order on the 8th local time to ensure that the United States gives priority to vaccination before providing coronavirus vaccine to other countries.
According to the report, Trump will sign the executive order at a summit on “Operation Warp” that day. A senior U.S. official told reporters on the 7th: “The executive order reiterates to the American people that we will put the United States first to ensure that they (the Americans) have access to the vaccine.”
The executive order also sets a framework for U.S. government agencies to coordinate the assistance of foreign people after vaccinations are vaccinated by the American people, the official added.
Another official revealed that Trump will speak at the event on the 8th, planning to discuss the government’s success in vaccine research and development and congratulate relevant people.
In May this year, Trump announced a key plan called “Operation Warp” to accelerate scientific research on coronavirus vaccines, drugs, testing and other aspects, and said he looked forward to developing a coronavirus vaccine by the end of this year.
He also announced that the plan was headed by Monsef Slavy, former head of the vaccine department of British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, and Gustav Perner, commander of the Army Equipment Command.
