According to CNN on the 8th, on Tuesday (8th local time), the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the request of Pennsylvania Republicans to block the certification of the state’s election results, which was almost fatal to Republican hopes that Biden’s victory would be invalidated.
The report said that the Supreme Court’s ruling was a devastating defeat for Trump, who often boasted that the Supreme Court might overthrow his election failure.
Hours before the U.S. Supreme Court issued the ruling, Trump directly appealed to state officials and Supreme Court justices to help him subvert the election results, and repeatedly falsely hinted that there was a large-scale “voter fraud” during the election.
Trump said, “Let’s see if anyone has the courage, whether it is a lawmaker, the legislature or a Supreme Court judge. Let’s see if they have the courage to do what everyone in this country knows is right.”
The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on Tuesday was only one line, and none of the nine justices objected or commented, the report said.
At present, the U.S. Supreme Court includes six conservative justices and three liberal justices. Six conservative justices include Trump-nominated Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Cony Barrett ( Amy Coney Barrett).
This ruling marks the first time Barrett has taken a position on the election-related dispute.
“Swift action without public dissent (the justices can choose whether or not to declare their objections) is a signal that the Supreme Court may not want to get involved in Trump’s ongoing campaign challenging the election results,” said Steve Vladek, a CNN Supreme Court analyst and a law professor at the University of Texas.
“The judges issued only one-sentence orders, without separate opinions,” he said. “This is a strong signal that the Supreme Court intends to avoid election-related disputes and keep the election process going.”
Tuesday is the state’s “safe harbor” deadline, according to Pennsylvania law.
This means that when the U.S. Congress counts electoral votes in January next year, it must accept the confirmed election results before the deadline.

Trump and his allies have been desperately promoting unfounded plots in the weeks leading up to the U.S.
Supreme Court’s order Tuesday, saying his second term was “stolen,” the report said.
Last week, Trump declared in Georgia that “we will still win”, although he has no way to do so.
So far, lawsuits initiated by the Trump campaign are being quickly dismissed or withdrawn.
Before Tuesday, several sources told CNN that Trump’s team of lawyers also began to realize that legal efforts were coming to an end.
