U.S. President Donald Trump has lashed out at current President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan policy and expressed concern that thousands of “terrorists” may have been airlifted out of the country as part of the evacuations, foreign media reported.
“Biden surrendered to terrorists in Afghanistan, withdrew in front of our citizens, and left thousands of Americans waiting to die,” Trump wrote in a statement Tuesday. Now we know that of the 26,000 people evacuated, only 4,000 are Americans. ”
Russia’s satellite news agency said the former president’s comments were in response to a tweet from Alex Ward, a national security correspondent for Politico, which cited a leaked State Department communications document that listed the exact number of U.S. troops leaving Kabul by nationality.
The U.S. Air Force transferred 6,425 Afghans in the 24 hours to 3 p.m. on Monday, compared with 483 U.S. citizens and eight citizens from other countries, the records show. A total of 4,407 Americans, 21,533 Afghans and 642 personnel from “third countries” have been evacuated since the evacuation began.
Before the White House ordered a hasty evacuation two weeks ago, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul had an estimated 4,000 staff members, but only 1,400 of them were U.S. citizens. At the same time, thousands of Americans work in Afghanistan as charity aid workers or otherwise, including private “contractors” hired by the U.S. military.
“What you can be sure of is that the Taliban are now in complete control, that they are not allowing the best and brightest people to board these evacuation flights, and instead we can only imagine how many terrorists have been airlifted out of Afghanistan and into communities around the world,” Trump continued in the statement. ”
“It was a terrible failure,” Trump wrote in the statement. There is no identity verification. How many terrorists will Biden bring to the United States? We don’t know! ”
