Tokyo, April 6 The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced on the 6th that the water polo test match of the Olympic Games originally planned for this weekend will be postponed to May or June. This also denied rumors earlier by several media that the competition would be cancelled.

The Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) reported earlier in the day that the water polo test match had been cancelled because overseas officials were unable to enter Japan.

Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee said in a statement: “After consultation with all stakeholders, including FINA, we have decided to postpone the water polo test match originally scheduled for April 10-11. All parties concerned hope to find the most suitable time in May or June for this important competition to be held. OK.”

The statement also said: “Haging the test competition is extremely important for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In order to ensure that the test competition and the Olympic Games as a whole are held to the best standards, and to take care of the schedule of all stakeholders in the epidemic, we think it is necessary to postpone this competition.”

The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee also announced the latest test schedule. Although the FINA had earlier announced that the Diving World Cup would be cancelled, the Tokyo Organizing Committee still put the competition, which was originally scheduled for April 18-23, on the agenda.

The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Test matches resumed on April 3. The first game was Wheelchair Rugby, which was not open to the media and audience, but only broadcast an overview online. In addition, it was reported earlier that in addition to the cancellation of the diving competition, the synchronized swimming competition also hosted by the FINA will also be cancelled. The FINA revealed on its official website that it will be decided whether these competitions can be held in the near future.

Japan’s recent rebound in the epidemic has cast a new shadow on the holding of the Olympic Games. In the most affected Osaka area, the local government has called for the cancellation of the torch relay held there from April 13-14.

However, the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee also announced good news on the same day that the Olympic volunteer training postponed for more than a year will be launched on the 10th.
