Three local ethnic armed forces in Myanmar announced that they will extend the ceasefire until December 31

Myanmar’s Kokang National Democratic Alliance, Deang National Armed Forces and Rakhine National Armed Forces issued a joint statement announcing the extension of the ceasefire until the end of December 31. 

The statement also stated that the three ethnic local armed forces had unilaterally declared a ceasefire seven times since 2019, and stated that they have prepared for a ceasefire without any prerequisites, and called for it to be launched under the leadership of the Federation of Myanmar Political Negotiations and Consultative Committee (FPNCC).

Political dialogue. The statement also called on the Burmese government forces to stop military attacks and harm civilians, delete ethnic local armed forces from the list of terrorist organizations, and continue to advance the peace process.

The Myanmar government forces previously issued a statement on October 30, saying that the ceasefire will be extended to November 30.

Prior to this, the Burmese government army and many ethnic local armed forces continued to clashed in Rakhine State, Shan State and other places, causing many civilian casualties.
