In the early morning of January 23, local time, an explosion occurred in a church in El Monte, Los Angeles County.
No one was injured at the scene. Police said it was a deliberate vandalism.
According to the FBI’s Los Angeles office, police came to the scene at about 1 a.m. and found a large amount of smoke coming out of the church window.
At present, there are no casualties, but the church wall has been damaged.
El Monte Police said that after receiving the alarm about “improvised explosives”, the FBI and the El Monte Police Department responded together, and the bomb technical team subsequently rushed to the scene of the destruction.
The church’s pastor Bruce Mega, who received arson threats on social media in early January, is unclear if the bombing was related to the threat, and police are investigating further details of the case, reports said.
