The White House of the United States proposed a $916 billion economic relief plan.

December 8 The White House of the United States put forward a draft economic relief plan totaling $916 billion on the 8th, trying to break the deadlock in the negotiations between democratic and Republican parties in Congress.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin issued a statement that night saying that he had considered the draft with President Trump, Senate Republican Leader McConnell, and House Republican Leader McCarthy, and presented it to House Democratic Leader Pelosi on behalf of Trump that afternoon.

But in a joint statement, Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Schumer said that the bill would cut unemployment benefits in the relief plan from $180 billion to $40 billion under negotiation by bipartisan lawmakers, which is unacceptable.

This is the first time that the White House has proposed a new economic relief plan since the end of the U.S. presidential election in early November. Previously, the two parties had big differences on the size and details of the rescue plan, and they were deadlocked in negotiations for months.
