December 22 (CNN) reported on the 22nd that two government officials revealed that the White House is considering requiring passengers from the United Kingdom to produce negative coronavirus tests before arriving in the United States.

The British government said on the 19th that a new variant of the novel coronavirus is spreading rapidly in London and southern England, and the transmission power of the variant is 70% higher than the original virus.

Many countries have urgently announced the closure of their borders and the suspension of flights to and from the United Kingdom.

However, U.S. public health officials, including Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the United States, do not believe that the current situation requires a suspension of travel from the United Kingdom.

CNN reported that the White House coronavirus task force discussed the possibility of testing passengers from the United Kingdom for COVID-19 at its meeting on the 21st, and White House officials are expected to submit this option to the President by the 22nd.

It is reported that the three airlines have agreed to implement similar arrangements on British flights to New York.

New York Governor Cuomo said Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Delta have agreed to test all passengers for the coronavirus before entering New York State.
