Reuters, December 22nd, aviation executives and U.S. officials who received the briefing said on Monday that the U.S. government is considering requiring all passengers from the United Kingdom to report negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours before departure as one of the conditions for entry.
The White House coronavirus task force discussed requiring passengers to be tested before departure after meeting Monday about the emergence of a highly infectious new virus strain in Britain, which prompted many countries to close their borders to the UK.
Airlines and U.S. officials said that the practice of requiring pre-debound inspections from British passengers won the support of the members of the Task Force. They pointed out that the White House has not yet made a final decision.
