In accordance with the U.S. election procedure, on the 14th local time, the Electoral College will vote for the President and Vice President of the United States, and then count and announce the results at a joint meeting of the two houses of Congress on January 6 next year.
The presidential candidate who obtains a majority of electoral votes will eventually win the election.
The president-elect will be officially sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on January 20, 2021. At present, 50 states and the District of Columbia have confirmed the election results.
Biden and Trump are expected to get 306 votes and 232 votes respectively, while the “threshold” for winning the election is 270 votes.
