The U.S. African Command announced that on January 7 local time, the U.S. military, together with the Somali National Army

launched a joint military operation near the Sahawan area, killing five Al-Shabaab leaders in an air attack

including a wanted Al-Shabaab leader, who is suspected of participating in the previous involvement in the United States and Somalia.

Attack by the Malian army. The U.S. African Command said that no civilians were killed or injured in the air strike.

The extremist group Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the air strikes in the United States.
