The Tokyo Paralympic torch-building ceremony was held on the 20th, the Paralympic torch lit throughout Japan and the flame lit in Mandeville, England, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games, gathered in Tokyo to form the Paralympic flame, and will eventually be lit at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games on the 24th.
The ceremony was held in the square in front of the Welcome Hotel in central Tokyo, where torches from 47 prefectures across Japan and torches that had just arrived from the Uk were inserted onto a pre-arranged stage, followed by three torch relay ambassadors, including Japanese film star Ishihara Rime, lighting the main torch platform to symbolize the flame generation of the Paralympic Games.
As originally planned, the Paralympic flame will be held on the city’s roads for four days, but because of the recent deterioration of the situation throughout Japan, relay activities were canceled, replaced by a closed-door ignition ceremony. On the evening of the 24th, the flame arrived at the opening ceremony of the new National Arena and finally lit the main torch inside the stadium.
