Aug. 16 2021 The Afghan Taliban began confiscating weapons from people in the Afghan capital Kabul on Monday (15th), foreign media reported.

A Taliban spokesman said people no longer needed weapons to protect themselves, Reuters reported Thursday. “We understand that people used to have weapons for their own safety, and now they should feel safe,” a Taliban spokesman said.

We are not here to harm innocent civilians. Saad Mohseni, head of media for Afghanistan’s MOBY Group and a resident of the city, also confirmed on social media platforms that Taliban fighters had come to his compound to ask about weapons held by the company’s security team.

On 15 August, the Afghan Taliban entered the country’s capital, Kabul, and took control of the presidential palace. In the early hours of August 16, Taliban political office spokesman Mohammad Naim said the war in Afghanistan was over.
