December 9th local time, Spain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer and government spokesman Maria Jesús Montero announced at a press conference that according to EU regulations, the government will exempt coronavirus vaccines and test agents from value-added tax until December 31, 2022.
Montero also said that the government has allocated 1 billion euros in the budget to buy a vaccine for the novel coronavirus, which will be managed by the national public health system and provided to citizens free of charge, and is not allowed for commercial use.
In addition, the Spanish government approved the extension of the rent assistance decree on the same day until December 2022, and continues to provide rent assistance to low-income tenants up to 40%, with subsidies for people over 65 years old up to 50%.
