According to a report by Russian RT News on November 9th, the Press Service of the Western Military Region of Russia confirmed that a shooting occurred at a military airport in Voronezh.
RT quoted a report from the TASS news agency as saying: “At around 5 a.m. on November 9, 2020, a soldier stationed in the Voronezh area attacked an officer in charge of inspecting the troops on duty. He snatched the pistol from the officer’s hand. Three people have been killed so far.”
According to the Russian Western Military District, three officers and soldiers died in this incident, and the Russian military is still pursuing the attackers. According to a source from the local emergency management department, the soldier is currently locked in a facility on a military base.
The RT report also mentioned a shooting incident in the Russian army last year. On October 25, 2019, recruit Ramil Shamsudinov shot at his comrades in a military unit, resulting in eight deaths and two serious injuries. The case is currently under trial and the soldier may face life imprisonment.
