According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the Director-General of the Lebanese Presidential Palace wrote to the Cabinet on the 13th to say that the President had decided not to sign the amendment to resolution 6433 submitted by the government before on the demarcation of the border of Lebanon’s exclusive economic zone.
The amendment redefines the Lebanese claim, expanding the disputed maritime area between Lebanon and Israel to 2,290 square kilometers from the original 860 square kilometers.
The day before, Israel’s energy minister responded that any unilateral move by the Lebanese side would provoke Israel’s counterattack.
