April 16, Philippines presidential spokesman Harry Locke announced that the Philippine government’s interdeparted Joint Anti-Epidemic Working Group had approved the extension of restrictions on the entry of foreigners until April 30.
Previously, the Philippine government banned foreigners from entering the country from March 22 to April 21 due to the emergence of the variant coronavirus, with the exception of only a few cases, such as qualified diplomats, international organizations, foreign seafarers, foreign spouses and children of Filipino nationals.
Harry Locke said that foreigners currently allowed to enter the Philippines, with the exception of these exceptions, may also enter the country if they hold the entry exemption documents issued by the Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs before March 22 this year.
Recently, the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the Philippines has rebounded significantly, as of April 15, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Philippines has exceeded 900,000.
