December 12th, Sky News reported that the British government’s Panel of Scientific Advisory on Emergencies called on the public to reconsider the holiday plan for traditional festivals at the end of the year.
Previously, the British government approved that members from three different families could hold festive celebration parties indoors within five days from December 23 to 27. The expert group is concerned that the regulation may cause a third wave of epidemics in parts of the UK and lead to a surge in the number of patients hospitalized, which will overburden hospitals.
It is reported that the COVID-19 epidemic in the UK has recently rebounded after easing in November. On December 11, 21,672 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom, the highest number of confirmed cases since mid-November.
