Aug. 18 2021 The number of hospitalized patients with coronavirus in the U.S. has continued to grow for more than a month, and if the rate of at least 2,500 new patients per day last week is calculated, the number of hospitalizations this month will exceed the highest number of hospitalizations in January during the severity of the outbreak, CNN reported Wednesday. At the same time, in the summer of 2021, the age of hospitalized patients with coronavirus in the United States showed a younger trend, a significant change from the trend of the last outbreak peak, which was dominated by elderly patients.

Florida and Louisiana reported the highest number of coronavirus hospitalized on record, while other states were nearing their peak. In Mississippi and Arkansas, for example, 87 percent of hospital admissions were reported daily, compared with 75 percent in Oregon, Alabama and Washington.

“At the same time, there has been a very significant change in the age of patients, ” said the director of a Missouri hospital, commenting on recent treatment of coronavirus patients. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hospitalization rates for coronavirus patients ages 30 to 39 are at an all-time high.

Compared to hospitalizations in January, only a third of patients over the age of 70 were recently admitted, while the rate of hospitalizations among younger groups was as high as in January. In addition, U.S. federal data show that in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and other places, child hospitalization rates doubled from the previous week.
