April 23 2021 A 7-year-old boy was killed in a shooting incident in North Carolina on the evening of April 21, local time.
According to the New York Daily News, the shooting took place in Hickley, about 50 miles northwest of Charlotte, at 11 p.m. on the 21st, Zakiron Gray Harris’ mother was driving her three children on the highway when someone in a car next to him suddenly fired a shot at them, hitting Zakiren in the neck, and Zakiren died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
His mother and two other children were not injured.
Zakilon’s mother thought it was a “road rage” killing because she had accidentally stepped in and overtaken another car.
As she passed another car, she heard a woman shouting and saw a lot of people in the car. She recalls a blonde woman sitting in the co-pilot’s seat, who she believed was a man who fired at them by bypassing the co-pilot’s seat.
However, police said they did not rule out other motives.
“This is a stupid act of violence, and the whole police department will work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice at an early date,” Hickley Police Chief Thurman Whisnant said at a news conference Tuesday.
