According to local media reports, on the 12th, the Information Office of the Presidential Palace of Lebanon issued a statement to provide three clarifications in response to the bombing in Beirut.
First, President Awn obtained the report from the General Administration of National Security on the storage of a large amount of ammonium nitrate in the warehouse in Beirut for the first time on July 21, and asked the relevant agencies to follow up.
Second, The President did not interfere in the investigation; third, it was rumored that the President’s request to intervene in the investigation when he met with a delegation of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary a few days ago was not true.
It is reported that Savan, the judge in charge of the investigation of the Beirut port bombing, accused the caretaker Prime Minister Diab and three former ministers of neglecting their duties on the 10th.
After receiving multiple reports of dangerous goods stored in the port before the explosion, they failed to respond, which eventually led to the disaster, resulting in at least 200 deaths.
Subsequently, Savan was accused of double standards by former Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati, because President Aun also admitted to reading the relevant report.
