On November 8, local time, the Greek Civil Aviation Authority issued new travel restrictions to reduce the risk of passengers and local residents coming to Greece from contracting Coronavirus.
According to information released by the Greek Civil Aviation Authority, the new air travel restrictions will take effect from November 9th until November 30th.
According to this restriction, from November 9th, passengers arriving in Greece by plane from abroad must have a negative nucleic acid test certificate.
In addition, starting from 6 a.m. on November 9th, Greece’s domestic flights and airports will only provide basic services, mainly including travel due to health reasons, business trips, family reunions and returning to long-term residences. The following flights are exempt flights:
- (1) Flights that provide services to the Greek National Medical System;
- (2) Health and humanitarian flights;
- (3) Flights to perform urgent tasks;
- (4) Military flights, cargo flights, flights carried out by Frontex, and firefighting flights;
- (5) Flights that only assist the crew to and from.
The new travel restrictions also stipulate that from 6 o’clock on November 10th, international flights, whether inbound or outbound passengers, must fill in the “Passenger Positioning Form” (PLF).
It is important to note that from 6:00 on November 11, all passengers entering the country on international flights must have a negative nucleic acid test report by PCR (nasopharyngeal swab) within 72 hours.
The new travel restrictions also emphasize that citizens of non-EU countries outside the EU regulations cannot enter Greece temporarily.
