On November 21st local time, according to Austrian state radio and television, the governor of Burgenland, Doskozier, Austria, tested positive for COVID-19. At present, he is in good condition with only mild symptoms.
The governor said he would work from home in the coming days and maintain close cooperation with government colleagues. He stressed that his diagnosis showed that despite strict epidemic prevention measures, he could still be infected.
He called on the people of Burgenland to abide by all epidemic prevention regulations and avoid contact, especially unnecessary social contact.
Doskozier, 50 years old, served as the Austrian Minister of Defence and Sports from January 2016 to December 2017, and was elected Governor of Burgenland in 2020.
According to the report, 194 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Burgenland in the past 24 hours.
At 14:00 on the same day, according to the data of the Austrian Ministry of Health, 6,239 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, with a total of 240,909 confirmed cases; 58 new deaths, a total of 2,155 deaths; and a total of 120,841 cases have been cured.
So far, a total of 4,629 patients with COVID-19 have been treated in hospitals, of which 687 have been treated in intensive care units.
