The Government of Japan is exploring the evacuation of local staff from the Embassy in Afghanistan

Kyodo News, August 21 news, Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the 19th LDP foreign affairs group meeting revealed that is exploring support for the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan and other local staff to retreat abroad, coupled with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) a total of dozens of people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it will confirm whether they want to travel to Japan or third countries and work to ensure security. Group leader Sato Zhengju explained to the media after the meeting.

At the meeting, members of parliament pointed out that, given the Taliban’s real power, the United States, Britain and other countries used military aircraft to evacuate their nationals and local staff. As Japanese staff have retreated, some say “Japan may be perceived as callous”.
