The Government of Burkina Faso issued a statement on 27 April confirming the killing of three foreigners who disappeared in the eastern part of the country on 26 April.
The statement said that a patrol convoy composed of rangers, journalists, soldiers and so on 26 in Burkina Faso’s eastern province of Gulma was attacked by militants, resulting in three injuries, four missing. Among those missing were two Spaniards, an Irishman and a Burkina Faso soldier. The identity of the attackers is not yet known.
Spanish Foreign Minister Gonzalez 27 confirmed that two Spanish journalists were killed in Burkina Faso.
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has experienced frequent attacks and a critical security situation. In February, eight people were killed and nine injured in an attack in the northern province of Udalan.
