The French Senate approves the return of some cultural relics to West Africa
Senegalese media : 5th November the French Senate recently approved the return of some cultural relics in Senegal and Benin in West Africa.
According to the previous bill passed unanimously by the French National Assembly in October and submitted to the Senate, France plans to return to Senegal a war sword and scabbard belonging to the famous 19th-century military and religious figure Omar Thaler.
As well as Benin’s 26 Pieces of cultural relics. According to statistics, French museums have collected about 90,000 pieces of cultural relics from Africa.
After taking office, French President Macron said that he would commission special personnel to investigate and return cultural relics to rebuild the friendly cultural relationship between France and Africa.
