January 11th local time, the foreign ministers of Egypt, France, Germany and Jordan held quadripartite talks in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to resume consultations on the Palestinian-Israeli issue.
During the meeting, the four foreign ministers formulated 11 articles on advancing the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, including the Quartet’s compliance with the two-state solution.
At a joint press conference held after the meeting, Egyptian Foreign Minister Shukri pointed out that it is the responsibility of the Quartet to restart the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks that have been frozen for many years in order to reach a just and comprehensive peace agreement.
The four foreign ministers stressed the importance of continuing to hold regular meetings to break the current deadlock in the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, and urged the Palestinian and Israeli sides to negotiate.
This meeting is the fourth meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli issue convened by the four foreign ministers, and the four foreign ministers decided to convene the next meeting in Paris, France, to continue consultations on how to promote the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
