The 3rd CIIE | Official from Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce: CIIE will bring opportunities for Thai SMEs to recover

Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, said in an exclusive interview with reporters from Xinhua News Agency in Bangkok that the upcoming third China International Import Expo will focus on showcasing the quality of various countries. The huge platform of commodities will create opportunities for participating Thai SMEs to explore the Chinese market and help Thailand’s economic recovery.

Songde told reporters that the global spread of the new crown epidemic has had a huge impact on the economies of various countries, and Thailand’s tourism and export trade have suffered heavy losses. Facing the severe situation, the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand is working hard to help domestic enterprises get out of the predicament through various methods. The scheduled holding of the China International Import Expo is just a good opportunity for Thai SMEs to recover.

It is understood that a total of 25 Thai companies have confirmed to participate in the third CIIE. Affected by the epidemic, some exhibitors may not be able to travel to China. Songde said that the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce will specifically provide these companies with online “cloud negotiation” and “cloud display” conveniences to help them better display their products at the CIIE.

Songde said that Chinese consumers have strong purchasing power and buy a large amount of Thai agricultural products including fruits every year. China’s opening up will bring more export opportunities to Thai companies.

He said that the CIIE can not only introduce high-quality and safe Thai products into China, but also enable Thai companies to broaden their horizons and further understand market trends.

The Thai Ministry of Commerce attaches great importance to the CIIE. Last year, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Zhu Lin personally led a delegation to participate in the second CIIE, not only to promote Thai products, but also to demonstrate Thailand’s potential in trade, investment and tourism.

The CIIE is one of the few international exhibitions held worldwide this year. Songde believes that after China has achieved significant results in coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, it has persisted in hosting the CIIE, demonstrating China’s confidence in helping the world to accelerate the recovery and development of global trade.

Songde said that China’s continuous expansion of opening up and strengthening of trade relations with countries around the world reflect China’s desire to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results with other countries in the economic field, and will help promote global economic recovery. He believes that both now and in the future, win-win cooperation will remain the mainstream trend of world economic development.
