Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani local time on May 1, said that in view of the current outbreak of Coronavirus in India is very serious, medical supplies are seriously scarce, infected people can not be treated in a timely manner, the Thai government decided to send special flights to India to transport medical supplies, while receiving thai embassy personnel in India and Thai citizens in India.
The flight departed at 7 a.m. local time on May 1 and returned to Bangkok at 1730 hours on the same day. Supplies included small oxygen machines, paper folding beds and various medications for the treatment of Coronavirus.
The supplies will be delivered to the Thai Embassy in India and the Indian Red Cross. Three Thai diplomats and a high-risk person from the Embassy in India who had been diagnosed with Coronavirus returned home on the flight.
Three other Thai citizens in India have been diagnosed with Coronavirus, two in New Delhi and one in Lucknow, but because their families are in India, they are not currently willing to return to Thailand for treatment.
Earlier, on April 24, the Thai Air Force sent a military aircraft to New Delhi to receive a Coronavirus confirmed by the Embassy of India military attache family back to Thailand for treatment.
