A large-scale power outage occurred on December 28 local time in Mexico, affecting about 10 million people in 12 states.
At a regular press conference on December 29, Mexican President López assured his citizens that similar accidents would not happen again.
Lopez praised the technicians of the National Electric Power Company (CFE) for completing the repair in just two hours.
He said that those who tried to use the accident to promote the privatization of Mexican electricity would not be able to win, and reiterated the Mexican government’s determination to strengthen the leadership of the two giants of Mexico’s National Petroleum Corporation (PEMEX) and the National Electricity Corporation (CFE) in the energy industry through energy reform.
