Tanzanian police say the security situation in the southern part of the country has been brought under control
November 19 Tanzanian Police Commissioner Simon Siro held a press conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and briefed on the national security situation during and after the presidential election.
He said that in recent days, Tanzanians have indeed participated in terrorist activities in the southern region of the country, and most of those involved have been arrested.
Ciro said, “It has been confirmed that the people we arrested have participated in criminal activities, leading the way for terrorists and entering the location of terrorist attacks.”
Since many of the captured criminals were young people who intended to travel to Mozambique to participate in terrorist activities, he reminded parents in southern Tanzania to warn their children not to join regional terrorist organizations.
In 2020, terrorist attacks on the border between Mozambique and Tanzania began to increase. More than 300,000 residents in Mozambique have been forced to leave their hometowns to avoid attacks.
At the end of October, the organization sneaked into Tanzania and launched an attack on a village on the southern border.
