It has been a month since the Taliban entered the Afghan capital Kabul on August 15 and took control of most of the country, and according to CCTV reporter Obeid reported on September 15th local time, the security situation in Afghanistan has improved, but people’s lives are still in the process of recovery, employment difficulties, cash shortages and other practical problems to be resolved.
It is reported that with the full withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan on August 31, many foreign institutions also left, many Afghan people lost their jobs. At the same time, the United States has frozen nearly $9.5 billion in assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, leaving the country facing a cash shortage that has severely affected people’s lives and business activities. Locals fear that these problems will exacerbate poverty in Afghanistan.
Local Samim: I don’t know why the U.S. is freezing our assets, which has created economic crises for Afghanistan and the Afghan people, and difficulties in investment and other areas.
Local samim: I went to the bank queue at 6 a.m. the day before yesterday, only to arrive at 3 p.m. and get only 20,000 Afghani (about 200$), which is not enough for me and my family. Even if you had more deposits in the bank, the bank wouldn’t let you withdraw more than 20,000 Afghani.
Local Samim: There are so many problems, the city is empty day by day, people rarely go out shopping, people can not invest. People are becoming poorer, even if you have money and can’t withdraw from the bank, and now people can’t spend properly, which is causing the problem of poverty to get worse.
