Syria holds international conference on refugees
November 11 nternational Conference on Syrian Refugees opened in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Russia, Iran, Lebanon and other countries sent representatives to participate.
Syrian President Bashar Assad delivered a video speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting. He said that the Syrian government is creating all conditions for the return of refugees.
He thanked the international community for its attention to the Syrian refugee problem and all countries that provided assistance to Syria’s post-war reconstruction. He criticized some countries for setting up obstacles to the return of Syrian refugees.
It is reported that during the two-day meeting, the participants will discuss all aspects of the Syrian refugee problem, including the current situation in Syria, the negative factors affecting the return of Syrian refugees, the obstacles encountered by Syrian refugees, and how to create for the return of refugees. According to official data from this conference, as of November 2020, nearly 2.2 million Syrian refugees have returned to their hometowns, of which approximately 850,000 refugees have returned to Syria from abroad.

Currently, there are still more than 100,000 Syrian refugees living in refugee camps in different regions.
