December 28 After the mutant coronavirus epidemic in the United Kingdom, Switzerland announced that all people entering the UK must self-quarantine for 10 days, including hundreds of British tourists planning to spend their holidays at a local ski resort.
However, after the Swiss government told 420 Britons they needed to be quarantined, at least half of them had “secretly escaped”, many of whom even quarantined for one day.
According to the British Guardian on the 27th, the Swiss government announced on December 21 that all people entering the UK since December 14th need to self-isolate for 10 days from the date of arrival.
Switzerland managed to track 420 tourists from the UK who were told to quarantine.
However, the Swiss Sunday News reported that at least half of these tourists fled “secretly” from a ski resort in Bagnes, Switzerland. Many of them were quarantined for a day and then left under the cover of darkness,” said Jean-Marc Sanders, a local communications officer.
He mentioned that flights between Switzerland and the United Kingdom have been cancelled since December 20, and it is not clear where the tourists have gone. Some visitors later contacted the hotel they stayed in and asked if they still needed to pay for the original reservation.
Many hotel owners said that they didn’t notice that they left after British guests did not answer the phone calls to the room or left the food left outside the room.
The Swiss Ministry of Health said on the 27th that two cases of mutant COVID-19 infection have been found in Switzerland, and one case has also been found in its neighboring Liechtenstein.
