According to the Swiss media Swiss News on December 7th local time, Switzerland is expected to launch a coronavirus vaccination program in early January 2021, with the goal of vacculating about 70% of the country’s population, that is, 6 million people, against the novel coronavirus by next summer, which means that up to 70,000 doses can be vaccinated every day.
The report pointed out that Switzerland has ordered 13 million doses of coronavirus vaccine through two suppliers and the World Health Organization.
The Swiss cantons will decide where vaccination services are provided, such as medical institutions, gymnasiums and military sites. The elderly and high-risk groups such as diabetes, chronic lung disease and hypertension should be given priority for vaccination.
At present, more than 350,000 people in Switzerland have been infected with COVID-19, with a cumulative death of more than 5,000 people.
