Spanish police have arrested several Spanish government officials in Valencia on bribery charges

On the morning of May 13 2021, Spanish police arrested a number of current or former senior officials of the Valencia region, including Rafael Rubio, deputy regional representative of the Spanish government in Valencia, and Alfonso Grau, former deputy mayor of Valencia.

The arrests are linked to a case involving bribery, bribery and public finances, which began in 2017 and has resulted in the arrest of several people in 2019.

Police investigations revealed that officials involved in the case had accepted huge bribes from developers and real estate companies in projects such as municipal development and real estate renovations led by the Spanish government, with Rafael Rubio, Valencia’s deputy regional representative, taking 300,000 euros and Alfonso Grow, Valencia’s former deputy mayor, taking up to 1 million euros.
