Reuters : 25th November Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez said that the Spanish government is considering limiting the number of Christmas celebrations to six people to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. However, officials in some areas advocate that the number of people be limited to 10. It is expected that the two sides will reach an agreement next week after discussion.

On October 25th local time, Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez announced that a new national emergency would be implemented nationwide from the afternoon of the same day to curb the coronavirus epidemic.

It is reported that the Spanish government is still negotiating with the regional authorities on the next round of restrictions. “Public health experts say this requirement will be strict enough to avoid another spike in the number of coronavirus cases,” Sanchez said. However, some health officials, including Catalonia and Madrid, advocate that the number of holiday gatherings should be set at no more than 10.

Spain’s health minister Ira said they would continue consultations and hope to reach an agreement next week.

The report pointed out that although Spain’s infection rate has slowed down in the past month, its total number of confirmed cases exceeds 1.6 million, second only to France and second in Western Europe. On the 25th local time, 10,222 new cases were confirmed in the country, bringing a total of 162,632 cases; the number of deaths increased by 369 to 44,037.
