Spain’s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Defense have launched plans to evacuate their own citizens living in Afghanistan as the Taliban enter the Afghan capital, Kabul, according to Spanish media on August 15.
It is reported that Spain will not only withdraw diplomats in Afghanistan, but also to evacuate Spanish citizens living in Afghanistan, as well as with the Spanish military and other institutions to cooperate with Afghan citizens.
According to Spain’s Foreign Ministry, the country is ready to begin evacuating its own citizens living in Afghanistan, the identification of those who need to evacuate has been completed, and the government is waiting for developments to decide when to begin the evacuation. It also said the Spanish embassy and consulate in Afghanistan would remain open if the situation was safe.
