January 28th, local time, the health authorities in Galicia, Spain, showed that the authorities found a variant case of COVID-19 found in South Africa in the health area of Vigo City.
This is also the first confirmed case of this variant virus infection in Spain. The case is a 30-year-old man who has been cured and does not need to be hospitalized.
It is reported that the man, a naval department worker, had previously gone to South Africa for work reasons, and developed symptoms related to COVID-19 after returning to Spain.
The Galicia Regional Health System confirmed that the man was infected with the variant strain of COVID-19 found in South Africa after genetic sequencing of the novel coronavirus.
