According to Reuters on January 28, local time, former U.S. President Trump and Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, held a meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

During the meeting, Trump promised to help Republicans regain the House of Representatives in the 2022 congressional election.

According to the report, Trump and McCarthy met at Mar-a-Lago, a resort in Florida.

Trump has lived here since he left the White House on January 20.

According to the report, McCarthy had previously claimed that Trump was responsible for the congressional riots, and Trump privately expressed his dissatisfaction with McCarthy to his advisers.McCarthy later changed his position, saying that he did not believe that Trump had incited the riot.

Trump’s Save America PAC issued a statement on Trump’s meeting with McCarthy, saying that “President Trump has agreed to work with [House Minority] Leader McCarthy to help the Republican Party become a majority in the House.” The statement also said that the meeting was “very good and very kind”.

According to the report, Democrats currently hold 221 seats in the House of Representatives, while Republicans hold 211 seats.

On January 6, a large number of Trump supporters broke through the police blockade and forcibly broke into the Capitol Building, and the process of certification of the results of the ongoing presidential election was interrupted.

Chaos and violence have killed at least five people and injured dozens of others.

Prior to the congressional turmoil, Trump repeatedly called on supporters around the world to protest in Washington on social media, and spoke at demonstrations outside the White House earlier on the 6th.

The House voted on January 13 to pass an impeachment clause against Trump, accusing him of “sedition”, with all 222 Democrats and 10 Republicans voting in favor.

With only one week left before Trump officially stepped down as President of the United States, he also became the first president in American history to be impeached by the House twice.

House Democrats of the U.S. Congress sent the impeachment case of former U.S. President Trump of “sedition” to the Senate on January 25.
