December 27 – According to AFP report on the 27th, the Somali Presidential Palace issued a statement on the 26th that Somali President Mohammed suspended Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Rober. On that day, there was a dispute between the two sides over the parliamentary election.
The statement said that Roble was charged with misappropriation of public funds and corruption, and during the investigation, the government suspended his post as Prime Minister and his duties were represented by other members of the Committee of Ministers. Earlier on Sunday (26th), the Office of the President said that Roble posed a serious threat to the electoral process and had ultra vires problems. The Prime Minister’s Office counterattacked the President’s time, energy and money to undermine the national elections, and said it would push forward the accelerated electoral process on the 27th.
Previously, Reuters reported that parliamentary elections in Somalia were held from November 1 to December 24, but as of 25, only 24 of the 275 seats in the Wolesi Jiliga (Lower House) had been elected, and the election was accused of fraud and manipulation.
