Dakar, Jan. 24 – Bamako news: Mali’s armed forces issued a press release on Jan. 24 saying that two military camps in the Mopti region of central Mali were attacked that day, resulting in the death of six soldiers
The communiqué said that in the early hours of the day, the two barracks located in Mopti district Bulekaisi and Mondoro were attacked by armed elements, resulting in the death of six soldiers and 18 people were injured.
Malian soldiers “responded positively” to the two simultaneous attacks, killing more than 30 terrorists and capturing some 40 motorcycles and a large amount of military equipment.
To date, no group has claimed responsibility for the two attacks.
In September 2019, the two military camps were attacked by terrorists, killing 40 Malian soldiers.
The extremist pro-Islam and Muslim group later claimed responsibility for the attacks.
In recent years, Mali has seen an ongoing conflict in the north and an increase in armed attacks in the central region.
