According to Fox News on the 20th, an American criminal who raped nine women within 15 years and was called the “Nocar Rapist” was sentenced to 897 years in prison last week.
Roy Charles Waller, 60, worked as a security expert at the University of California, Berkeley for about 25 years before his arrest in September 2018. As an infamous serial rapist in the United States, he was convicted in Sacramento last month.
Sacramento County Attorney Keith Hill said, “[Wahler] always appeals, but we have faith, hope and trust in the whole system that he will die in prison. Every minute the judge sentenced him to serve his sentence was Waller’s deserved.”
According to the report, the jury found Waller guilty on all 46 charges, including the abduction and rape of nine women in six northern California counties between 1991 and 2006.
In 2018, DNA and gene genealogy showed Waller was associated with these rapes, prosecutors said. One of the victims, Nicole, said, “I can finally put down [this matter]. He was sentenced. I don’t have to think about anything related to him in my life.
This is the greatest relief in my life. For any survivor who doesn’t have the courage to do this, for anyone who is watching this today, the only person who should be ashamed of what happened to you is the one who committed crimes against you.
It will never be you.” Waller was accused of sexually assaulting Nicole in 1991.
After Waller’s conviction, District Attorney Steve Grippy issued a statement saying “9 victims waited for this moment for more than 20 years, and with the help of genetic research and DNA science, this moment came.”
“It’s a tough case,” Waller’s lawyer Joseph Farina said last week. He pointed out that it was DNA that ultimately led to Waller’s case, and said that Waller said that he would not admit any crime and would not apologize to any victims.
Prosecutors said that the 897 sentence was the longest sentence allowed under U.S. law. Farina said that based on his experience in handling sexual crimes cases, the judgment is not surprising, and he will appeal next week as usual.
