December 30, 2020, local time, the Children’s Hospital of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, issued a statement pointing out that some children have an inflammatory reaction after contracting the novel coronavirus, which has been identified as multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children, often accompanied by abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and rash.
Since the outbreak, children have been infected with the novel coronavirus relatively few times, usually asymptomatic or mild cases after infection.
Switzerland found the first case of children with multi-system inflammatory syndrome in the first wave of epidemics in May this year, and set up corresponding children’s intensive care units in the second wave of epidemics.
At present, more than 60 children in Switzerland have developed such symptoms, most of which occurred in the past few weeks. After adequate treatment, it can generally recover completely.
