Afghanistan’s Ministry of the Interior announced on May 2nd local time, the capital Kabul north of the 17th police district gas station on the evening of the 1st major fire, has killed 7 people were killed and 14 injured. Local media also said the death toll may have reached nine.
Tariq Arian, a spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry, said the gas station where the fire broke out was located along the main highway linking Kabul with the northern provinces, and that many tankers waiting in line to enter the city had also been set on fire. Eyewitnesses said dozens of tankers, trucks and cars were involved in the fire.
So far, officials have not announced the cause of the fire. Shortly after the fire, power was cut off in many parts of Kabul.
