January 25 According to a Yonhap News Agency, Samsung’s head Lee Jae-j was sentenced to two and a half years for bribery.
On the 25th, Lee Jaej y said that he would accept the judgment with an open mind and would not appeal.
Previously, Korean media analyzed that even if Lee Jae-dyu filed an appeal, there was little chance of turning the tables.
On January 18, the Seoul High Court of South Korea issued a judgment on the retrial of Lee Jae-ye’s bribery case. Li Zai was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and was re-in prison in court.
The court found that Lee Jae-hye bribed Park Geun-hye and his cronies Choi Soon by 8.68 billion won (about 51 million yuan) in exchange for the government’s support for him to inherit the management rights of Samsung Group.
Li Zai, 52 years old, is the vice president of Samsung Electronics and the actual head of Samsung Group. In November 2016, he was involved in the case of “confidant interference in politics” and was investigated by the prosecution for four years.
In addition to the case of “confident interference in politics”, Li Zai was also prosecuted for suspected illegal inheritance of business rights.
Lee Jae-ye was detained in Seoul Detention Center on January 18, in the same prison as Park Geun-hye.
His latest COVID-19 test is negative, but due to the strict requirements of prison epidemic prevention, he must be quarantined in prison for four weeks and undergo a second test before he can officially serve his sentence.
