According to TechXplore on February 6, electronics giant Samsung is considering investing $17 billion in Austin, Texas, United States, to build a new chip manufacturing plant.
Samsung will build a new semiconductor plant on 640 acres of land it has purchased in Austin and will create at least 1,800 high-paying jobs, according to documents released on Friday.
A subsidiary of Samsung warned in the document that the project was “very competitive” and that the company was also considering location in Arizona, New York and South Korea, where its parent company is located.
According to Samsung, if Austin is selected, construction may begin in the middle of this year and be operational by the end of 2023.
