According to Russia’s Tas News Agency, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Shevtsova said on the 25th local time: “The Russian Ministry of Finance has reduced the defense budget by 10% from 2021 to 2023, while the budget of the defense force development project has been reduced by 5%.”
Shevtsova said that due to the increase in various types of state spending on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, the defense budget is prepared under strict restrictions on the state budget.
Shevtsova stressed that the existing defense budget will fully guarantee the construction and development of the Russian armed forces and enable the Russian armed forces to complete the task of defending the country.
In addition, she stressed that the reduction of the defense budget will not affect social security and medical expenses of active-duty personnel.
