February 20th – Russian Sputnik News Agency reported on the 20th that Russian Prime Minister Mishustin said that Russia has registered the third domestic coronavirus vaccine “CoviVac”.
It is expected that by mid-March 2021, the first 120,000 doses of CoviVac coronavirus vaccine will be extended to the Russian market.
In August 2020, it was reported that the Russian coronavirus vaccine “Sputnik-V” became the first registered coronavirus vaccine in the world. In October of the same year, the “EpiVacCorona” coronavirus vaccine was approved.
Mishustin announced on February 20 that the Chumakov Federal Science Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed a new coronavirus vaccine, “CoviVac”, which has been registered in Russia. It is expected that by mid-March 2021, the first 120,000 doses of “CoviVac” coronavirus vaccine will be available for the domestic market.
Regarding Russia’s third vaccine, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said: “During clinical research on volunteers, the ‘CoviVac’ coronavirus vaccine has proved to have high levels of safety and effectiveness.
The large-scale experiment will continue after registration.” The Russian Ministry of Science and Technology said that the third phase of clinical trial of the vaccine is scheduled to start in March 2021, with 3,000 volunteers participating.
Mishustin also said that a large-scale vaccination operation will start this spring.
Russia has opened 4,000 vaccination stations, producing at least 10 million doses of the “satellite-V” vaccine and 80,000 doses of “EpiVacCorona” vaccine.
